Rank the subjects behind audit events (admin)
/v1/admin/orgs/{slug}/audit-events/topReturns the subjects behind the audit records the filters match, by how
many each caused: the principals (by=actor), the objects acted on
(by=target, the accounts a run of refused sign-ins resolved to), the
clients (by=client, resolved or only named, as the client_id filter
matches them) or the addresses (by=client_ip). It takes the audit
list's filters, so a ranking names exactly the records the list pages
through for the same parameters, and reads of the audit log itself are
left out unless include_audit_reads is set.
A ranking groups every record in its window in one pass, so it is bounded
where the counts are not: the window spans at most the 31 days x-window
declares, refused past that with window_too_large, and at most 25
subjects come back. Answers are cached per organization, read scope,
permission projection, filters, subject, limit and window for at least
the dashboard's shortest refresh interval, and replicas sharing a cache
compute each one once; past the aggregate deadline or the per-server cap
a ranking is answered 503 busy with Retry-After.
Requires the nauthera.audit:read scope and the audit.read permission:
a ranked list of who is behind a set of records is the audit list's
knowledge in another shape. Ranking by address, and filtering by one,
additionally require users.pii.read, since an address is personal data;
without it an actor's or target's display snapshot is withheld and only
the id is returned. Reading a ranking is recorded at the trace level
only, so polling adds nothing to the audit log at the levels a deployment
usually runs.
The organization slug. It names the TENANT OF RECORD for the operation: the rows it reads and writes, the policy its secrets are derived under, and the organization its audit record is filed against all come from this organization. A token is admitted only through its own slug, except a main-org token, which may be admitted through any — so cross-tenant administration is performed through the TARGET tenant's slug, never by naming its resources through another. A token reaching for a slug it may not be admitted through is refused identically whether that organization exists or not.

The second bounded exception to the audit list's no-total rule, beside the counts: a ranking groups every record in its window in one pass, so its window is bounded to 31 days where the counts allow 90, how many subjects it returns is capped at 25, and an answer is cached per caller view for at least the dashboard's shortest refresh interval.
What a ranking groups the records by: the principal that caused them (
actor; anonymous records, which name none, are left out), the object they acted on (target), the client they are about, resolved or only named as the list'sclient_idfilter matches it (client), or the address they came from (client_ip, personal data, which additionally requiresusers.pii.read).Possible values"actor""target""client""client_ip"How many subjects were asked for; fewer come back when fewer exist.
